This time we did an overnight camp to enable us to do this round trip. It was a short walk on the first day to our overnight camp spot at Lavaderos de la Reina. The second day was an early start before the sun hit us to make an ascent of Picon de Jerez. Then we traversed the main ridge covering 3 more 3000m peaks. We took a good rest before a very long and hot decent back to the cars.
The annual bathing of the dogs happened today, Rita is super white again 😎 Arko is dirtier than before 🤷 Washing a waterproof dog is hard work and you end up wetter than the dog 😂 Washing the dogs is a quiet affair these days without Khumbu being here screaming for his life ❤️
We had the most amazing storm. Ahead of the storm some very cool Mammatus clouds formed. You have to forgive my indulgence in rain and storms, we don't get much of it here, but when it does happen it can often be quite dramatic.
We had the most amazing day today, again 😉, in another of my favourite mountain areas and it didn't fail with it's beautiful display of wildflowers, many endemic, and nature. Gentians of various sorts, Violas and carnivorous plants, hundred or so Griffon Vultures and one very special Lammergeier.
It's an overload on the senses. No words can do it justice, photo's capture some of it, but it's best to be experienced first hand. Take a look through some pictures and then click on the galleries to see more pictures.
